Science Supports Oil Pulling! Long live Coconut Oil!

Coconut-and-Coconut-Oil

Soooo00 many benefits to using coconut oil as outlined in another post here, and I have also posted about oil pulling.

Studies from The Athlone Institute of Technology in Ireland have proven that coconut oil can destroy the bacteria that causes tooth decay and improve your dental health by crushing a yeast known as candida albicans which enables dental diseases. ( diets consisting of processed foods and sugar promote this)  Candida infection can lead to digestive issues as well. The scientists looked closer at the effects of natural and digested coconut oil on common strains of bacteria within the mouth, including S. mutans, a major culprit associated with tooth decay. In their report, the researchers state that enzyme-modified coconut oil could be ‘an effective alternative to chemical additives’ in most dental health care products.

Another study in the African Journal of Microbiology Research conducted in 2008 found a  reduction in the total count of bacteria in the mouth, and an overall reduction in susceptibility to dental cavities, and after 40 days of oil-pulling, a 20 percent in average reduction in oral bacteria.

BTW, Coconut oil helps absorb calcium by the body which it turn makes your teeth strong and is  great for your gums health and even teeth whitening. This is due to the fact that coconut oil absorbs heavy metals in the body.

In this day and age of everyone looking for quick fixes which often involve chemicals useage, why not spend a little time, utilize something natural, and reap the health benefits!
